Sobre la base del respeto a los principios planteados en Nuestro Modelo tiene como objetivo crear un espacio de discusión y reflexión sobre los temas de repercusión internacional en un afán por replantear las lógicas de funcionamiento de las Naciones Unidas para el siglo XXI y su necesidad de cambio. Sirva también este espacio para resaltar la posición de Cuba en la máxima organización internacional. Nuestro modelo, primero de su tipo en el país, este año incorpora por primera vez una comisión que sesionará en lengua inglesa. III Taller Internacional sobre los Modelos de Naciones Unidas HAVMUN 2009 convoca también a todos sus delegados a participar en el III Taller Internacional “Los Modelos de las Naciones Unidas”; que se realizará el viernes 20 de febrero de 2009. A más de una década de la fundación del Modelo en Este taller pretende perfeccionar los Modelos de las Naciones Unidas para lograr mayor incidencia en el escenario internacional, establecer y complementar prioridades entre las reglas de procedimiento, la preparación académica y el apropiado curso del debate, así como definir la interrelación de estos elementos dentro de las sesiones de trabajo de cada modelo. On the basis of respect for the principles raised in the United Nations Charter and International Law, HAVMUN proposes that young people look on world peace and human rights. In its more than ten years have been created by students from several nations at this timely opportunity for reflection. The Federation of University Students of the University of Havana and the Youth Commission of the Cuban Association of the United Nations convened this year to the fourteenth United Nations Model of Havana, HAVMUN 2009, to be held from 2 to March 6; forum where young people have a responsibility to argue on issues of international relevance analyzed in the United Nations. Our model is designed to create a space for discussion and reflection on the issues of international impact in an effort to rethink the logic of operation of the United Nations for the twenty-first century and its need for change. This space also serves to highlight Cuba's position on the highest international organization. Our model, the first of its kind in the country, this year incorporates for the first time a committee which will meet in the English language. The Committee on Decolonization touch topics as sensitive as the existing situation regarding the sovereignty of the Falklands Islands and a review of the Implementation of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples. In addition, we will have the opportunity to discuss in plenary on an evil that accuses the most basic human rights: Torture and other cruel and inhuman or degrading treatment. In this edition, HAVMUN honors Carlos Manuel de Cespedes,''The Father of the Nation'', the initiator of our struggle for independence, who exported this idea even beyond our borders. HAVMUN 2009 also dresses up as we recall the signing and observance of the Geneva Conventions, the birthplace of International Humanitarian Law. Of the first we celebrate the190th anniversary of his birth and of the second 60th anniversary of its adoption. III International Workshop on the Model UN HAVMUN 2009 calls upon all its delegates to attend the Third International Workshop "Models of the United Nations" to be held on Friday, February 20, 2009. For more than a decade of the founding of the Model in Havana, the experience we suggest update on how to play these events in the region in addition to his conception of the influence in the society in which they thrive. This workshop aims to refine the Models of the United Nations to achieve greater impact on the international stage, and set up priorities among the rules of procedure, the academic preparation and the appropriate course of the debate and define the interrelationship of these elements within the working sessions of each model.
